The New Hyundai Volester Coupe

New Hyundai Veloster Coupe is coming to Paris Auto Show to celebrate its worldwide premiere!

Hyundai will launch its long-anticipated Tiburon replacement at the forthcoming Paris Auto Show, which opens its doors in October. First showcased at the Seoul Motor Show back in 2007, the brand-new Hyundai Veloster is the carmaker’s answer to the popular Volkswagen Scirocco.

First prototypes have already been spotted undergoing final pre-production testing. The model has been recently caught near Hyundai’s Namyang research and development centre. Unfortunately, the vehicle was heavily masked, but those who saw it up-close reported that it looks really imagehot and very close to the initial concept vehicle.

We have already been confirmed that the up-coming Veloster is going to feature attractive styling by John Krafcik, the president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America - HMA. He once told: “The production-ready Veloster coupe will have quite dramatic styling; even more so than the concept car. We want that car to be bought for its looks!”

Under the hood, the all-new front-wheel-driveHyundai coupe will feature the automaker’s new 1.6L GDI engine, which generates 140+ horsepower. A turbocharged 1.6L gasoline direct injection engine will also be available, according to the sources close to Hyundai. Expect the turbocharged Veloster to pack impressive 200 horsepower! The model is also expected to be the very first Hyundai vehicle to feature twin-clutch gearbox. Also available will be the fel-saving start-stop technology.

The New 2011 Hyundai Accent or Verna

Hyundai has restyled the subcompact Accent for the 2011 model year. With the attractive Ford Fiesta 5-door hatchback on its way, design is suddenly more important even in the subcompact segment.
Against the Ford Fiesta sedan, we find the new Accent more attractive. Whether the Accent is better looking than the outgoing model, though, is another question. Hyundai has made a splash with the bold design of the midsize Sonata sedan. Does the Accent make a strong impression on you?

Let's start with the grille, which gives the 2011 Accent a much happier visage compared to the 2010 model. Large, stretched headlights lead the eyes to a pronounced character line on the profile that's not as easily seen on the outgoing Accent.

GM Now a Days Working a New Small Truck

While other manufacturers have announced plans to completely abandon the slow-selling midsize pickup segment, General Motors apparently thinks there's still life and new opportunity to be found in small trucks. GM is said to be working on a new compact runabout that's reminiscent of the original Chevrolet S-10, according to our sources.image

The current Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon twins have been steadily losing sales and market share over the past few years. Year to date, the Colorado is down 30.3 percent from a year earlier and the Canyon is off 28.5 percent. Newly retired former GM vice chairman Bob Lutz said in February that the future of the two trucks were uncertain and, last year, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said it was GM's plan to end production at the Shreveport plant where the Colorado and Canyon are produced by 2012.

The two biggest players in the segment today are the best-selling Toyota Tacoma, which still sells more than 100,000 units annually, and the long-in-the-tooth Ford Ranger.

But some have complained that the Tacoma is too big -- it grew to its current size in 2005 -- and expensive. And Ford says it will end production of the Ranger next year because small truck buyers can make do with a small car or fuel-efficient F-150. Small truck buyers have also moved into full-size pickups because the cost of entry-level half-ton trucks is often close to the price tag of midsize pickups.

Those reasons are said to be enough to open the door for GM to potentially offer a modern take on a small truck that's similar in size to the compact pickups of the 1980s, when the segment sold more than 1 million trucks annually.

Through April of this year, only 87,985 compact and midsize trucks have been sold, according to J.D. Power and Associates' Power Information Network sales figures.

The key elements of success for GM's future small truck would be fuel economy that’s greater than its full-size pickups and a window sticker that’s significantly less. It would also be a completely different and smaller platform than the planned next-generation overseas version of the Colorado that will be built in Thailand.

Discover that this Big-boy SUV retains the same waist size/2011 Infiniti QX56

Ask Infiniti why they bothered to build a third generation QX at all, and they'll politely tell you that the average buyer is one of the youngest and most affluent luxury vehicle consumers out there. The average guy or gal with a QX56 fob in their pocket is 45 years old – a full seven years younger than the national average for all luxury owners – and the luxury arm from Nissan says that its SUV is a sort of brand gateway drug that will have buyers returning to showrooms for years to come.
Instead of abandoning the dwindling large SUV segment altogether, the company has given its flagship QX56 a whole new set of bones. The truck is now based on the globe-crushing Nissan Patrol instead of the Nissan Armada platform, and as such, the dimensions have stayed fairly uniform every which way but up. The new generation bears a nearly identical track compared to the 2010 model, though the truck is three inches shorter thanks to a revised roof rack system. Even so, headroom remains unimpeded.

This isn't a segment that embraces shrinkage, so it's safe to assume that jaws won't drop when consumers discover that this big-boy SUV retains the same waist size. What is surprising is that Infiniti has let the truck's styling evolve into something that fits alongside its G and M siblings. The hard lines of the Armada DNA have been replaced with a calmer aesthetic thanks to a host of gentle curves and arches. Up front, the old blingtastic grille has been swept into a familial "double arch" design that's more cohesive with the rest of the vehicle. The QX56 still holds onto its low-mounted headlights from the last generation, though they've morphed into a much sleeker, form-fitting shape. In photos, the SUV may resemble everyone's favorite white whale, but the look is surprisingly cohesive in the flesh.
From the side, your eye is immediately drawn to those fender vents. The pieces are one part wince, one part engineered awesome, but all Pep Boys. At least the driver's side inlet is actually functional and operates as the intake point for the engine, but the passenger-side chrome is there simply for symmetry's sake. We're not quite sure what we would have preferred to show up in their place, but the vents look like an afterthought borrowed from the Buick parts bin.

If you believe Infiniti, the interior in the QX56 was inspired by the inside of an executive jet. We'd love to be able say whether or not that's a fair comparison, but honestly, we've never gotten within whiffing distance of a private aircraft's leather chairs. We can say that should you ever find yourself fortunate enough to be skimming the skies in a multimillion-dollar airliner, we hope the cabin is as nice as what you find in the new Infiniti bruiser. The front seats are a kind of infinitely-adjustable guilty pleasure. Even at this price point, manufacturers like Cadillac have no problem supplying you with leather-dipped versions of the same thrones found in lesser trucks, but the buckets in the Infiniti are as comfortable as can be.
Infiniti has all but banished hard plastics from the cabin in favor of plenty of leather and other soft touch goodies. The center stack is trimmed in the same plush hide as the seats, complete with excellent stitching. A smoked burlwood of some exotic origin fills the spaces between the vehicle controls, and a handful of chrome accents crop up in all the right places. You won't find any design-shockers on the dash, but everything is easy to access and the controls don't require a computer science degree to navigate.

One of the most useful features onboard is the company's Around View Monitor, a bit of tech that's been popping up in Infiniti models for the past couple of years. The system uses a total of five cameras to help you figure out exactly where the QX56 is in relation to objects around it. If it sounds like a useless piece of kit, we suggest hopping on down to your closest Infiniti dealership for a demonstration. It makes short work of parking lots, detritus-laden garages and towing a trailer in tight spaces.
The QX56 is an eight-passenger craft thanks, in part, to a second row comprised of two buckets and a console instead of the standard bench. Infiniti managed to stretch the second-row leg room to a hefty 41 inches, besting its closest competitor, the Mercedes-Benz GL450, by a full inch and a half. Even with Kareem Abdul Jabar in the pilot's seat, there's plenty of room in the second row for the long-legged. For 2011, the SUV also boasts a slick new power folding seat on the passenger side. Push a button and the unit collapses to make ingress and egress a snap for passengers in the third row.

Speaking of the way-back seats, Infiniti has worked in a new power mechanism that can fold the third row flat to make room for additional cargo. The unit isn't exactly lightening quick, but it beats the pants off of fiddling with tethers, levers and locks.

The third row also comes equipped with a power reclining feature that goes a long way toward making the seats more habitable for well-fed adults. We still wouldn't want to spend more than an hour back there, but the space should be more than enough for kids up to tween age.
All in all, the interior is well executed no matter where you're sitting. Though, we aren't entirely without gripe.

We would've enjoyed more user-friendly steering wheel controls, as the cruise is operated by no less than five buttons and toggles, and the slew of switchgear is somewhat overwhelming as you're driving along at speed. Likewise, Infiniti has chosen to nestle the adjustments for the side-view mirrors near the driver's left knee instead of on the door panel. We found ourselves rocking back and forth like Dustin Hoffman in Rainman as we tried to find a visibility sweet-spot

NISSAN RECALL 48,700 TRUCKS AND SUV


The Associated Press is reporting that Nissan will recall 48,700 trucks and SUVs for a suspension problem that could lead to an unforgiving ride. The recall, which could officially begin as early as this week, involves the 2010 Nissan Titan, Pathfinder, Armada and Xterra, along with the Infiniti QX56. The recall is related to a suspension control link that may not have been welded properly. If the weld is insufficient, the bushing collar could crack, leading to the kind of ride that bruises kidneys and rattles fillings.

Nissan spokesman Colin Price reported to the AP that the company is working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to get the recall processed as quickly as possible. Once a recall is officially announced, Nissan will provide a fix at no cost to the customer. No accidents have been reported as a result of this potential issue.

The 2011 A8 is the harbinger of things to come from Audi's award winning interiors, and the release of an additional spy shot of the S7's insides proves that the new navigation screen found in the automaker's flagship is set to proliferate throughout the Audi line-up.
As you can see in the image above, the seven-inch display that rises from the dash is fitted to the recently spied S7, and will also be included on the standard A7 when it goes on sale next year. The MMI Touch Pad, which also debuted on the all-new A8 and allows user to draw letters and numbers to control the navigation, phone and other systems, is likely to be an option on the A7/S7, along with the new A6. And speaking of the A6...
Audi's mid-sizer has been around since 2004, with an updated model bowing two years later, so it stands to reason that an all-new A6 is coming soon. Judging by the automaker's product cycles, we're expecting the 2012 A6 to bow in Detroit or as early as the Paris Motor Show and go on sale sometime towards the middle of 2011

BMW preparing even hotter M3 GTS-R

Hot on the trails of BMW's victorious return to the 24 Hours of Nürburgring this year, rumors have surfaced that an even hotter version of the M3 GTS is on the way. The orange wündermobile was unveiled barely six months ago, complete with 450-horsepower V8, upgraded brakes, rolling stock, suspension and aero package and a stripped interior. But if that's not enough to tickle your fancy, a few supposedly informed fanboys say that Munich is preparing to celebrate - and bid farewell to - the E92 M3 with an even fiercer derivative.
Tentatively dubbed the M3 GTS-R, the ultimate 3 Series is expected to benefit from yet another power upgrade, plus more carbon fiber body panels - all decked in matte black - to further reduce weight and pack even wider wheel arches packing Y-shaped five-spoke rims and blending into fat side sills. There's even word of a streetable implementation of the company's F1-derived KERS regenerative braking system for push-to-pass boost. Sounds tasty; stay tuned for more.

BMW M3 GTS out of the runway

The BMW M3 GTS is expected to carry some serious track cred. The extremely limited edition Bimmer packs 450 horsepower from a 4.4-liter V8 engine, while weight is cut by 419 lbs compared to a typical M3. Sounds like a dream come true. But if you planned on picking up one of the 90 M3 GTS models costing 115,000 Euro ($145,000 in U.S. funds), you're too late. The most capable E92 M3 is already sold out, but you can at least hit the jump to see video of a bright orange GTS as its takes on the famed Nürburgring.
In the BMW-produced video, M3 test engineer Günter Sillinger takes the GTS for a spin around the 'Ring, then tells us just how great the high-strung coupe handles. Sillinger may be biased, but since we may never get behind the wheel of one of the select GTS coupes, we'll have to take his word for it when he says, "It's the most uncompromising, fastest and thrilling M3 ever." MUNICH — BMW's M GmbH subsidiary has launched the M3 GTS, a more powerful, stripped-down yet street-legal edition of the M3 Coupe designed specifically for club sport racing.

The M group has increased displacement of the M3's V8 engine from 4.0 to 4.4 liters, boosting output to 444 horsepower and torque to 325 pound-feet. Mated to a modified version of BMW's seven-speed M Dual Clutch Transmission, the engine propels the M3 GTS from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4.4 seconds. Top speed is 190 mph.

Kay Segler, CEO of BMW M, observes: "Our aim was to develop a model variant that would prove its outstanding potential both on the road and at club sport racing events. The BMW M3 GTS is pure M feeling, embodying the brand values in a highly concentrated form."

Built at the M GmbH manufacturing facility in Garching, Germany, the M3 GTS will be priced from $172,000, including tax, when it goes on sale officially in July. Right-hand-drive variants for the U.K. market will be available next January

CONCEPT CARS FROM VECTOR

 

Amazing car is this,for the first time that I’ve been watching an Auto that none of my expectation that they build up car like this, its good and nice.

Wiegert displayed his next version of the Vector at the Geneva Auto Show in 1993. The Avtech WX-3 coupe and Avtech WX-3R roadster further evolved the W8 design. Only one prototype of each model was built. Plans called for the WX-3 to carry three different engine options: a 600 hp (450 kW) "basic" V-8, an 800 hp (600 kW) "tuned" option, and a 1,200 hp (890 kW) twin turbo option,[6] While the Coupe had the twin turbo engine (tuned to about 800 hp) the roadster had the same Chevrolet engine as the W8.[3] When the WX-3 debuted in 1993, MegaTech, an Indonesian company, acquired a controlling interest in Vector. After Wiegert returned from the Geneva show, the Vector board asked Wiegert to relinquish control of the company and assume only the role of the company's designer. He refused, and ordered the Vector headquarters physically locked down.[4] He was later fired from Vector Aeromotive.[4] The WX-3 Coupe was originally painted silver, but it was repainted teal-blue by Wiegert to match the teal-blue and purple logo of his Aquajet jet-ski company. The teal-blue coupe and purple roadster are featured as promotional vehicles on the Aquajet website.[2]

Vector Motors Corporation is an automobile manufacturer originally based in Wilmington, California. Its history can be traced to Vehicle Design Force, which was founded in 1978 by Gerald Wiegert[1]. Vehicle production began in 1989 and ceased in the 1990s. The company was recently revived (as Vector Motors Corporation), and is currently developing a new supercar. Vector is credited by some[citation needed] as America's first attempt to compete with European performance car manufacturers like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Lotus.

The Vector AVTech WX3 is basically the identical twin of the original Vector W8 model. It is built on the same chassis and the construction of the engine is almost exact. The WX3 model never went into mass production, so it remains a concept car. Since the WX3 did not under go the stress test of most cars, the data on it is not fully confirmed.

The intended engine for WX-3 was to have more than 1000 horsepower. But this engine was never completed so under the hood you will see a aluminum alloy 7.0-liter V-8 engine. This beast pumps out 800+ pound-feet of torque at 4900 rpm. Vector claims that the WX3 has a maximum of 650 horsepower.

The chassis of the WX3 is made of a carbon fiber, epoxy composite, nomex honeycomb core.

Vector Avtech WX3 has a top speed of 400 km/h (248 mph) and makes the 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds.

 

Wiegert had also planned a roadster version of the WX-3, named WX-3R, which would have shared all its mechanical components with its closed top cousin. Like the model it was based on, the WX-3R did not pass prototype stage.

Demo of Volvo on safety device failed

Volvo invited a bunch of reporters to see them launch an empty Volvo S60 at the back of a truck in a test of their crash avoidance system. It didn't work.No one was hurt and the company claims a technical reason having to do with the battery is the cause. It's funny... unless you're a car company who sells cars on the basis that they're the safest on the road.

 

HOW DEOS ESP WORK ON AUTO? DEMO FROM VOLVO

ESP = Electronic Stability Program.

How ESP works

The Electronic Stability Program from Chrysler is a fairly complex piece of engineering. The aim of this system was to move beyond a safety program which was only active during acceleration. ESP is armed as soon as the vehicle is started, and sensor data is gathered at all times. This data is fed into an active computer model which compares the standard behavior of the vehicle’s driver against the actual driving situation as reported by the sensor information. The model is adaptive and learns the driving habits of the vehicle owner, using this information to generate the baseline of safe values to use for comparison purposes. Through this methodology, the ESP system is designed to rapidly react to any deviations between expected values and the condition of the vehicle. This computer model sets the Chrysler Electronic Stability Program apart from other, more basic brake and throttle management stability control systems.

Information such as vehicle speed, braking intensity, pitch and yaw and traction are all taken into consideration. Wheel speed is determined by the same sensors that are used to help the anti-lock braking system (ABS) system choose where braking force should be applied. Steering angle is measured by a sensor in the steering column that notes the position of the steering wheel relative to the actual direction of the vehicle as determined by the yaw sensor. A sensor measuring the lateral acceleration of a vehicle is used to ascertain if the vehicle is in the middle of a skid or not. All of these factors are calculated extremely rapidly by the central processing unit of the ESP system, since at highway speeds even milliseconds can result in a significant amount of distance traveled

How ESP can help

If the Electronic Stability Program determines that intervention is needed, it can respond in a variety of ways to ensure the continued safe operation of the vehicle. ESP can reduce engine power, thus eliminating wheel spin and slowing down the vehicle in a low-traction situation. It can also take multiple steps to correct a skid or slide, such as individually applying the brakes to each wheel in order to prevent the vehicle from rotating or building enough inertia to roll over. It can also take the extreme option of both applying the brakes and cutting power to bring the vehicle to a complete stop, should it decide that conditions are too treacherous to continue driving.

A common misconception is that stability control programs use the ABS system in order to control the braking pressure at each wheel. In reality, ESP must increase braking pressure individually, while an ABS system reduces the braking pressure of an individual wheel while maintaining uniform pressure for the remaining brakes. This means that the Electronic Stability Program requires a separate brake modulator.
